June 24, 1953 – January 7, 2019
Gerald (Gerry) Joseph Tebbe, age 65, of Burton, died suddenly Monday January 7, 2019. He was born June 24,1953 in Detroit, MI to Joe and Dorothy Tebbe.
Gerry graduated from Ferndale High School. He married Carolyn Tebbe at Fellowship Lutheran Church in 1988. Gerry went on to receive his associates, bachelor’s and master’s degree in information technology.
Gerry was a lifelong musician. Gerry started playing guitar before the age of 10 and was also in his first band at 10 years old. He primarily played bass, but also played the 12 string & sang.
Gerry played in several bands, including but not limited to: “The Way Back Machine”, “Off the Cuff”, “Burgundy” and several church bands. He was co-founder of the band “Yesterday’s Children” and a founding member of “Dr. Joyce & the Brothers”. Currently Gerry played for the
‘Fast Eddie Band’ and in the last year Gerry shared his musical talents with Journey Ministries in Davison, MI, as a member of the worship band.
To quote Journey Ministries’ Worship Leader Nate Elder, “This is a heartbreaking loss for Gerry’s family, Journey’s congregation and the worship team. Gerry allowed the Lord to use him as a faithful servant to minister with music on an almost weekly basis for the past year. He was talented and dedicated and a good friend. We will miss him.”
Mr. Tebbe is survived by his wife: Carolyn Tebbe, sons: Bryan (Raeann) Frasher of Reese, Michael Tebbe of San Francisco, CA, Matthew (Shnowa) Frasher of Grand Blanc and Conor Tebbe of Burton; grandchildren: Madison, Cameron, Issac, Liam, Marilyn and Rylie. Brothers: Robert, Mark, David and sisters: Judy, Diane, Donna, Rita and Dawn. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held, Friday, January 18th, 2019 @ 1:00 pm, at Journey Ministries Center, 102 S. Main Street, Davison, MI, 48423. Memorial contributions may be made to Journey Ministries.
