My Faith Journey: What is Communion?
We believe that, along with baptism, the Lord’s Supper is one of the Scriptural ordinances of the local Church. We partake of communion as an outward expression of our obedience to our Lord’s commands. The Lord’s Supper consists of two elements: the bread and the cup. The bread symbolizes the broken body of Jesus, and the cup represents the blood He shed for us.
As Believers, we are called to take the bread and cup in a worthy manner, after a time of self-examination, to remember and reflect on what Jesus did for us on the cross and our relationship with Him. At Journey we observe communion on the first or the last Sunday of the month.
Matthew 26:26-30; Mark 14:22-26; Luke 22:17-20; 1 Corinthians 11:23-32
